Tonight, Wednesday the 4th of August, at 9 pm in Ottinetti square the opening of the Footbike World Championships, event organized by the Ivrea Avis group, with the sponsorship of Piedmont Region and the organizational contributions of Ivrea, Strambino and Samone Town Councils and Comunità Collinare “Piccolo Anfiteatro Morenico del Canavese”.

The opening ceremony, which is the first event, will take place before the start of the races: the delegations of 14 participant countries will be presented in Ottinetti square: more than 150 the registered athletes, that, starting from tomorrow will contend for the 16 titles. The Vodoo Dolls concert will form part of the evening entertainment.

A part from Italy (47 registered athletes) the most numerous national teams are Holland (26), Czech Republic (24) and Germany (21); numerous are the athletes representing France (15) and Finland (12).

Selected teams from Australia (7), Slovakia (4), Denmark (3), Belgium (2) and USA (2). One athlete for Columbia, Ecuador, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
In the last edition of the World Championships, that took place in Holland in 2008, the resident team of athletes won 11 titles, the Czech Republich team 4 and German team 2. One title each for USA and Finland.

The organization of the event is supported by a “task force” of nearly 200 people: from the volunteers protecting the roads to ensure the athletes safety to the volunteers managing the races logisitcs and the group of volunteers working “behind the scenes”, a very important and precious support.
