The first 8 World Champion titles have been assigned during the first day of competitions of the Footbike World Championship organized in Ivrea by the Avis sports group.
The De Witt athletics track, located in the San Giovanni area, hosted the first day of races, entirely dedicated to the sprint trials: qualifications, preliminary heats and finals took place on the classic 400 metres racetrack.

Three titles won by Holland, two by Finland and Czech Republich and one by Denmark.

In the men Senior category, the Finnish Kai Immonen dominated the race, ahead of the Czechs Jan Vlàsek, outgoing World Champion, and Jaromir Odvàrka. For women, a Dutch triumph: success for Hermien Koers (that confirms the title won two years ago), that preceded Rosanne Reijne e Wenda Zuiddam.
Among Veterans, for the men’s trial, success for Hannu Vierikko (Finland), ahead of Mario Reijne (Holland) and the Italian Marco Cecchetti. Third step of the podium for Italy in the women’s trial as well, thanks to Alicia Stojanik arrived behind the new World Champion Ivana Dvorakova (Czech Republic) and the Dutch Charlotte De Mol.

Among Juniors, the success of the Danish Christian Iversen, that preceded the Czech Jarolslav Tocik and the Finnish Einari Vierikko. For women, another Dutch success thanks to Maxime Reijne. Silver medal for the team partner Lisanne Buyk, bronze medal for the Czech Jessika Jislova.
For the cadets: for men the title was won by Marec Kladec, that beat in the order the Italian Giacomo Bona and the Australian Ali Hassan. For women the title was won by Alice Klooster (Holland), followed by Erika Jislova (Czech Republic) and Anne Nap (Holland).
Good results for the other Italians. In the Senior category Luigi Iapichino (9° in the qualifications) and Igor Ricci were eliminated in the semi-finals, while Mario Gargano, Patrick Oberto, Piero Panetto, Simone Bonino e Roberto Deamicis accessed to the quarter finals. Qualification to the quarter finals for the Veterans Davide Bioletto and Roberto Meotto as well.
For women, Elisa Viglio (Senior) was in eighth position.

The promotional race reserved to the younger athletes took place as well, with many successes in all the categories for the little Italian athletes. In the Under 12 race second places for Ludovica Anselmo and Simone Defilippi, whilst Mirko Cullaz obtained the third position. Italian dominion in the Under 10 race: First place for Lorenzo Ricci (that confirms the title won 2 years ago). Second place for Paolo Deamicis.

Last but not least the category for the youngest children that saw Cristian Cullaz in third position.
